Repairing a brick is challenging, not just to match the colour but also the unique texture of each brick. We follow a very simple, tried, and tested process, that is part science, part art, to make it less visible. The specific steps vary depending on the level of damage and surface we are repairing and have been proven over the past 20 years. Here’s the common steps we go through to ensure a high quality repair.

Repair or replace external house bricks?

Replacing a house brick is complicated, as it requires slightly dismantling a wall in your house. This means it can be expensive and take quite a bit of time. You’ll need to get a brick layer to come in and remove the surrounding bricks to get to the chipped or cracked brick. A new brick will then need to be installed and the surrounding bricks re-installed. This means you could be back in a construction zone for a few days, if not a week or two.

What are the benefits of using FIX ’N’ CHIPS for brick repairs?

What bricks can’t you fix?

We can repair many common household bricks. Where a brick is structurally important, we highly recommend replacing rather than repair. We also only focus on house bricks so can’t help with areas that are exposed to heat, such as pizza ovens or BBQ areas.

Do you fix chips, cracks and defects in house bricks?

Yes, our local team of experts can fix brick chips and minor defect repairs.

How do you best match the colour and texture of the existing brick?

We use a proven colour matching system, with our local expert technicians comprehensively trained. This is a really complicated step in the repair process and can take the most amount of time. This also incorporates texture, which while very difficult to exactly match the original colour and texture from the manufacturing process, we can make chips or cracks much less visible so they no longer become the first thing you see.

How long does a brick chip repair take?

There are a few variables that can impact how long a job can take. The key ones are the size of the chip/scratch/crack in the brick, the colour and texture of the surface we need to match, and the amount of chips/scratches/cracks needed repairing.

A week after we moved into our brand new house I dropped a casserole and it fell onto the floor smashing a small area of two adjoining tiles. They are quite large and the damage was noticeable, but we thought the only option was to replace both tiles, which would have been a big job. Consequently nothing was done and that was 7 years ago!
